Two Haiku

The St.Claire and the Artblog are ecstatic to present the 16 finalists of the New Art Writing Challenge. The challenge generated over 70 unique pieces of writing all examining and engaging art in Philadelphia. Thanks to all those who participated and thanks to our jurors — Hrag Vartanian, Abigail Satinsky and Nell McClister.  Below is Kellie Rados’ finalist entry addressing A Hatchet to Kill Old Ugly by Joy Feasley and Paul Swenbeck at the Fabric Workshop and Museum.

is this waking life?
if it is, something is off
the fireplace nods yes

across the threshold
palms and shins make the journey
the inner kingdom

Kellie Rados started her career as an advertising account exec in NYC, but then decided that the visual arts were more her thing, so she went to design school. She is currently a production designer for a marketing communications agency and does freelance graphic design in her free time. She is extremely fond of cacti and West Coast oysters.
